Accumulating lake Mariborsko jezero

Are you a fan of water sports? Are you interested in waterside habitats? Or do you simply want some peace and relaxation?

The lake  – you can find it above Mariborski otok – was formed with the damming up of the river Drava on account of the construction of the hydroelectric power station Mariborski otok.  Today it is protected as a regional park, and at the same time it is a popular area for:

•  recreation – try sailing, surfing and rowing!
• research of specific waterside biotopes (south bank of the lake is almost completely overgrown with a wood, in several places there are also shallow spots, which are also interesting habitats) and
• admiring the wonderful landscape and relaxation in nature – on the edge of the lake you will also find numerous boathouses and restaurants.
