Competition

In the field of competition we offer above all competitions in sports climbing – we are also organisers of the Slovene Cup in ice climbing! We enable you to practice on our own low climbing wall, which is in the multi-cultural centre Pekarna.

Where with us?

For our members we organise trekking and expeditions in the mountains of all continents, among which the most interest is for:

  • both Americas (Andes, Rocky Mountains, Patagonia...),
  • Asia - (Himalayas) and
  • Europe - (Alps).

Among our club members there are some alpinists of world fame and with topmost alpinist achievements.

Planinsko društvo Fram (Alpine Club Fram)

On your way over Fram's Pohorje and the surroundings, where our guides of A, B and D categories will lead you! There are two marked trails, which are thoroughly renewed every few years, leading from Fram to Pohorje, to Arena and the lodge Mariborske koče. German and English speaking groups are welcome to join us on our expeditions.

What else do we offer?

Along with active Alpine activities (mainly excursion into the mountains and also high mountains) we also publish the gazette Planinski odmevi (Alpine echoes), in which we publish our work for the previous year and tell something about our impressions of the trips. Likewise during the wintertime organise lectures with slide shows.

For safe trips into the hills equipment is also important. Therefore every year we spend a large part of the money we have at our disposal for buying equipment and supplementing mountain maps, guidebooks and other literature.

Planinsko društvo Maribor – Matica (Alpine Club Maribor – Matica)

You can go with us into the mountain world of Slovenia and abroad and you can choose from many different types of excursions:

  • easy tours in the nearby surroundings,
  • undemanding trips for older alpinists,
  • easy tours in the high mountains,
  • demanding tours up known peaks in the high mountains,
  • demanding tours to less demanding peaks in the high mountains (also over high mountains),
  • downhill tours,
  • excursions to foreign mountains and
  • mass hikes.

We are the caretakers of three Alpine trails, Kozjak, Svečina and the Pohorske alpine trail, and two bases, the lodge Koča na Žavcarjeva vrh (867 m) and the lodge Mariborska koča (1068 m). We also are active in editions for Alpine routes for the whole region of Slovenia and with the supply of literature on mountaineering. Look at our display window at the seat of the club (here alpinists can purchase log books for alpine routes, pay membership fees for PZS, purchase maps, get different information…) and next to the Franciscan Church. We also organise guided hikes on Pohorje for German speaking groups.
