Celtic Trail sentenceend

Discover the traces of Celts, a fighting and proud people, who settled in our areas in the 4th and 3rd century BC! Go to the Celtic trail, which connects nature and cultural heritage in the commune Šentilj.

On the way…

The trail goes through Bold, where in a forest on Novine you will come across the remains of a Celtic settlement, ancient fort and sepulchral mound. The old border trail, which will lead you to the settlement of Ceršak and along the river Mura, continue to Brod na Muri, which is being in operation for more than 80 years and is a unique border crossing

In Sladki vrh the trail divides into two parts

The trail goes eastwards past the sports-recreation park and pond by the river Mura to Trate. The second part of the trail goes towards the south and climbs uphill to a sepulchral burial ground and then goes up to the crest on Vranji vrh, where at a beautiful viewing point there is a hunting lodge.

This pleasant forest trail leads to the romantic valley of Šomat and continues between vineyards to the Rajšp farm. From here the trail ascends to one of the most beautiful villages in Slovenia Zgornja Velka, where you will find the famous Church of the Virgin Mary with a Baroque altar and frescoes dating from the 18th century.
