1887 - 1972Shortly after his arrival in Maribor, he bought the City Pharmacy near the Orel Hotel and ran it from 1927 to 1949. From 1955, he lectured on the history of pharmacy at the pharmaceutical department at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematisc in Ljubljana and from 1967 at the Ljubljana Faculty of Medicine.
He was the first profound collector of material on the history of pharmacy in Slovenia. An apothecary himself, he collected most of the material for the permanent pharmaceutical collection kept in the Provincial Museum in Maribor.
He is the sole author of five publications, including Olimje, a Historical Apothecary in Pictures and Words (1955), Glassworks on Pohorje (1966), and From Traditional Slavonic to Modern Medicines (1971).
He was the member of the International History of Pharmacy Association in Basle and a member of the International Academy of Pharmcy History in the Hague, and an honourable member of the Slovene History Society.
The highest Slovene national award in pharmacy is named after him.
