From Pohorje's jungle, over waterfalls to a black pearlsentenceend

Pohorje's primeval forest and the waterfalls Mali and Veliki Šumik – be enchanted by these most remarkable natural sights in the region of the Natural Park Pohorje, to which numerous footpaths lead.

Along the Lobnica stream there namely unfolds 19 hectares of unspoilt Pohorje primeval forest (the steep right slope above the stream Lobnica), where beech, pine and fir trees and habitats of rare plants have found their secret refuges.  After a short descent between the steep slopes by the Lobnica stream you will arrive at the Veliki Šumik waterfall, one of our mightiest waterfalls, and a little further on is the smaller Mali Šumik waterfall.  The path between Veliki and Mali Šumik is reckoned to be very demanding.

Continue this unique experience with nature by taking a pleasure trip to the lake Črno jezero!

The lake, which looks as though it is full of ink, although the water is actually crystal clear, will enrapture as will the rare plant habitats, peat mosses, forests, remarkable climate and air as well as the tranquil peace that makes it all the more mysterious.

The lake is accessible

  • from the direction of Maribor head towards Slovenska Bistrica then to Štuhčev dom at Trije kralji (in this direction there is also a footpath from the flatland at Šumik and Pri Bajgotu respectively), from where there is a thirty minute walk to the lake Črno jezero.
  • There are also paths leading to the lake from the lodge Koča na Pesku and the lodge Koča na Klopni vrh.
