Hunt on Pohorje: Stalking chamois

Hunting chamois is a speciality of the Breeding Hunting Grounds on Pohorje.

The hunting ground is divided into environs, in which hunting is restricted only to roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), red deer (Cervus elephus), chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra) and wild pig (Sus scrofa), however, each environ has its own specialities:

• Smolnik is located on the northeastern side of Pohorje by the valley of the beautiful stream Lobnica. This is an environ where in autumn time the red deer, king of the forests, reigns. 
• Močnik – in this south-eastern part of Pohorje hunting deer and red deer is extremely interesting, in a land where meadows, pastureland and forest intertwine.
• Rakovec is an environ where it is possible to hunt any kind of game, with views of nearby and far away surroundings.  
• Komisija –secretive extensive forests offer hunters hunting chamois contact with primeval wilderness.  
• Hudi kot – hunting chamois in the extensive pine forests is a speciality here, where meeting grouse and capercailye makes it all the more diverse.
• Klopni vrh – an environ that with its numerous species of game and beautifully preserved nature, which fills all hunters with enthusiasm. 

Relatively easy access to the chamois environs makes it possible for elderly hunters or hunters with little condition to hunt here.

Recommended time for hunting: Chamois: 1^st August, Red deer: 15^th August and Roe deer: 1^st May.
