Jurčičeva ulica represents an indispensable part of the mosaic of the old mercantile part of the city of Maribor. In it we can find small shops and locals with catering offers, which bring colour and enliven the old town core. Many times the sounds of strings or accordions and wonderful voices bring diversity to the happenings here. You can walk along Jurčičeva ulica all the way from Gosposka ulica to the square Trg Leona Štuklja.
On the corner of Jurčičeva and Gosposka ulica there was once the seat of the editorial board of the newspaper Slovenski narod, at which both Anton Tomšič and Josip Jurčič worked. The printing office operated in the neighbouring building.
The building of Jurčičeva ulica 5 was once the restaurant Pri Jelenu, one of the most renowned in old Maribor. Even the Emperors Josef II, Leopold II, Franc I. and the Russian Czar Aleksander I, and his wife spent the night here.
