Pohorje's Woodcutters Route

Set off on a one-day excursion from Pohorje’s primeval forest to Ruše, and roam along the woodcutter’s trail in the tracks of the former inhabitants of Pohorje!

Key points of interest along the way:

• Lobnica gorge (former Pohorje timber slide),
• Bajgot,
• Descent along the Lobnica stream (difficult trail – 2,5 hours walk) with a visit to the waterfalls Veliki and Mali Šumik,
• Tributary of the Verna stream and other natural sights,
• Reberska bajta – former woodcutter’s dwelling,
• Grizold farm – panoramic viewing point and lunch "Woodcutter’s Meal" (Woodcutter’s dumplings, Pohorje hot pot, home baked bread and cider),
• Visit to the chapel of St Anthony,
• Reflex massage of the feet and
• Ruše –sightseeing of the village (Parish Church of St Mary in Ruše, Ruše Latin School, Open-air gallery of statues...).
