Pruning of the Old Vine, the oldest vine in the world
Pruning of the Old Vine is
one of the highlights
of the entire cycle of events dedicated to the Old Vine, which end with a ceremonial grape harvest. An attractive cultural program invites each year visitors from near and far to one of the banks of the river Drava.
The ceremonial pruning in the spring has to be made very professional as it is a basis for the growth and grape harvest. The oldest vine tree is the main attraction and ethnographical heritage of Maribor. The Old Vine is to be found as the noblest wine in the Guinness Book of Records. For this event,
the city of Maribor donates scions to the partner cities, communities and countries from all over the world
. The Old vine and the city of Maribor are honored Guests of honor, cities, representatives of wine orders, wine queens, owners of the Old vine scions and citizens participate at this magnificent occasion.
