Theatre housed in three buildings:
Up to the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire the theatre house was the centre of cultural and social life for the Maribor Germans. Theatrical performances in the Slovene language, which was cultivated in various inn rooms, became ever more numerous when in the year 1899 Narodni dom was built and after that the Dramatics Society founded. The society took Slovene performances almost to a professional level. In 1941 the Nazi enemy occupying the country suppressed the Slovene theatre in Maribor and for three years introduced the German language. The professional Slovene Theatre, which began in 1919, was renovated in 1945.
