Trg Svobode square

Visit the square, where something is always going on. Here you can relax and sit in the sun, have a cup of coffee and a chat; above all don't miss the diverse events that unwind here: fairs, assemblies, performances, shows…

The National Liberation NOB Memorial, the work of Slavko Tihec dating from 1975, attracts visitors who consider it very interesting – the people of Maribor frequently call it  ''Kodžak.''

In the square you will be surrounded by many other places worth seeing:

• right next to it stands Maribor Castle,
• under the square is one of the oldest wine cellars in Europe, the Vinag Wine Cellar,
• towards the north, a nice view opens up of the square Trg generala Maistra and further on towards the town hill Piramida.
