University library of Maribor
The University of Maribor Library is the central library of the University of Maribor. It continues with its more than hundred year long tradition and is at the same time developing to a modern and users’ friendly library.
History of the University of Maribor Library The University of Maribor Library developed from the Library of the Historical Society for the Slovene Styria that was established in 1903. In the period between World War I and World War II it developed as the Study Library Maribor to the second general scientific library of Slovenia. In 1957 the library was one of the co-founders of the University of Maribor and since then it carries the name the University of Maribor Library.
In 1988, after moving to different locations, changes in the name and in its status and because of the rapid growth of the library holdings and a constant professional development, the library moved to a new building which together with the Rector’s office builds the Maribor university centre.
