Get acquainted with the typical viticultural world of part of Slovenske gorice, which comes under the Kungota commune and border with Austria – go to the diverse countryside with vineyards and apple orchards, overgrown here and there with forests, where in scattered farms you can fortify yourself with excellent Štajerska dishes and top quality wine. Along the way you will see some interesting sights, such as fossil remains and a viewing tower.
Trail route
The trail begins in the settlement of Plač and continues along the “fruit road” through the apple orchards opposite the Kren farm. From here towards the south the trail climbs up the Kopica hill. Above the Kren farm the trail leads along the ridge hamlet Svečina to Jamšek farm, where the trail now continues along a local asphalt road to the Halič farm on Ciringa and then to the border crossing Svečina.
After that the trail heads towards the Menhart farm on Ciringa, which runs close to the state border, parallel with the wine road on the other side of it. From the Menhart farm you have to return along the same path to the nearby Jamšek farm, here the trail continues eastwards to the Vrezner farm on Ciringa. The path runs downhill past the Menhart homestead and to the Gros homestead, then it climbs to the border crossing Plač.
Next comes the hill Plački hrib (509 m), where you can see fossil remains of life in the Pannonian Sea. In the close vicinity is the Repolusk farm with a viewing tower, which offers a beautiful view over Slovenske gorice. From the tower head downhill towards the south into the valley to the Leber tourist farm on Podigrac and return to the settlement of Plač, where this circular trail finishes.
