Roaming along the river Drava with a bicycle, with rollers or on foot! The Drava embankment is ideal for shorter or longer walks in the company of the calm flow of the water, white swans, colourful ducks, the songs of the river gulls and other inhabitants of the riverbanks.
From Lent to the island Mariborski otok
We recommend a route that leads along the left bank of the river Drava from Lent, the oldest part of the city with the Old Vine, the oldest vine in the world, past the small footbridge Študenska brv and under the bridge Koroški most all the way to the bay Koblarjev zaliv, where you can take refreshments, go fishing and even try a trip with a raft ( it is necessary to book in advance)! From here it is just a step or two to the island Mariborski otok, one of the natural sights of our city.
When you return....
Leaving the island Mariborski otok head back to the bridge Koroški most, cross over it and go back down to the river. An approximately 20 minute walk along the right bank will lead you past Joseph’s fountain and somewhat up on the hill the church of St Joseph’s back to the town centre, to the old bridge Stari most. A wonderful panoramic view will open up in front of you of the whole of Lent, your starting point by the river Drava!
